We've decided to ADOPT!

Jeremy and I have been talking alot about getting a dog over the past few months and we have finally decided that we are ready to rescue a boxer! I love boxers and have grown up with them since I was little. I can't imagine owning another breed, they have to be one of the sweetest, loving, fun breeds out there. We decided to rescue through an organization called Legacy Boxer Rescue (www.savetheboxers.com). They have a pretty stringent application and interview process so I hope we make the cut. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we hear something positive soon! It's been a very difficult decision for me to decide that I am ready for another dog as my sweet boxer boy, Beau passed away this year (His story is below). I didn't know if I was ready to share my heart with another puppy yet, but after doing some research and reading a ton about the dogs at LBR I decided that I am ready. There are a lot of sad stories on the site about boxers that haven't made it and who have been really badly treated by previous owners, but there are also tons of stories of neglected pups that have gotten second chances and are now loved and cared for in their "forever homes". If you are at all interested in adopting a boxer you should check out the site. The is so much information on what to expect in owning a boxer and also tons of cute pictures and stories of available boxers.

As some of my close family and friends know, my parents boxer, Beau passed away this year. My mom and I got him for my dad when I was in college as a birthday present although I kinda keep him as my own. I pretty much raised Beau, he came every where with me and I took care of him like he was my baby. You probably have never seen a more spoiled dog. My mom even quilted him his own blanket that he snuggled with on the couch. He was diagnosed with Lymphoma last year and was quite a fighter! He was on chemo for several months, but his body just couldn't handle it anymore. My parents had to put Beau down because he was in so much pain. It broke my heart and I cried for several weeks, I still cry pretty often just thinking about how much I loved him and how much I miss him. Beau loved other dogs, especially boxers, when we would take him to the dog park he always seemed to gravitate towards them. He would have loved to have a boxer brother or sister to play with and I'm so sad that he isn't here to meet our new addition. He was incredibly loved by our family and is missed every day!

Some of my favorite picture of my sweet Beau!

This is when he was just a couple of months old. I took him every where and spoiled him rotten!

He was even with me when Jeremy asked me to marry him! I think he was just as excited as I was, he at least jumped around as much as I did. This picture was right after I calmed down and he was exhausted from all the excitement!

Beau loved to be carried around like a baby! He was such a lap dog, he loved to snuggle and be close to his family.

Hugs!

This was one of the last pictures I took of Beau. Jeremy and I had just taken him on a walk and he was all tuckered out, he loved to go on walks and be outside.

We love you Beau!

I'll keep you posted on the adoption progress!

Busy Busy Weekend!

It was a super BUSY weekend, but sooo much fun!

On Friday we had game night at our friends Tiffany & Chris’s house. Jeremy has known Tiffany since he was in elementary school, but we just started hanging out with them recently and they are the sweetest couple! Board games might be one of my most favorite things. Although, I’ve figured out this weekend that I’m not very good at Pictionary! Which is strange because I love to doodle, I guess I’m just not good at pressure doodling!

The Teams:

The Boys

The Girls

One of my masterpieces… I’ll let you guess what it is…

Can you guess which team won? With a talent like me on your team, we were pretty hard to beat! ;)

Saturday we got up really early and headed to my parents house. My Great Aunt & Uncle were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and some of my family came down from Oklahoma for the party. My Aunt Susan (my mom’s sister) and two of her kids along with their spouses and children came. It was so great to see them and getting to play with their precious children. We also had a wedding to go to that day so we headed to Fort Worth to see Robin and Jon tie the knot!

Catching up... Already...

Ok, so I’m already horrible at this whole blogging thing, but I do have a little bit of an excuse…. It’s been an absolute crazy past couple of weeks! Jeremy and I have both been traveling a lot for our jobs although I must admit the places I get to go are a bit more glamorous than his. I was in Miami and he was in Kerrville, TX. I was super busy the whole time I was in Miami but I did get to enjoy a little bit of Miami while I was there. My coworkers and I had dinner on South Beach one evening. We sat out on the patio and the humidity was almost unbearable, if it wasn’t for the crazy people watching and the yummy drinks I don’t think I could have made it. The next night we visited Miami Beach and it was absolutely gorgeous! The sunset over the ocean was so picturesque; the only thing that could have made it better would have been having my hubby with me!

When Jeremy and I got back we took a long weekend and celebrated our 1 year anniversary! I’m in complete shock that a year has gone by so quickly! So many amazing things have happened to us in this short time and I feel so blessed to have been able to experience them all with my husband! I still get butterflies in my stomach when I think about the fact that I get to call this perfect man my husband! I love him more and more every day, God has given me my soul mate and I couldn’t be more thankful! Here are a few of my favorite pictures from our wedding day.

We initially thought we were going to do a mini-vacation to celebrate, but after all the traveling we have to do this summer we decided that we wanted to stay home and just relax! We spent the entire weekend eating great food and lounging around in comfy pj’s, I loved it! Since we just bought our first home we decided to buy stuff for the house instead of presents, I got shutters and I bought him new patio furniture. One of the special things we did this weekend was go back to hotel that we had our reception at and eat at the restaurant that catered it. The restaurant is Rick’s Chophouse, if you’re ever in downtown McKinney you have to have dinner there. It’s so delicious! We ate the same dinner we had on our wedding night and our wedding planner surprised us and brought us our dessert, it was so sweet! We also drove past the church that we got married in and of course I started blubbering like a baby thinking about our wedding day! We ended the weekend by tasting our year old wedding cake. Just an FYI for all the newlyweds who read this, it’s HORRIBLE! We were trying to be really sweet and we decided to feed each other a piece at the same time. We started to chew it up and then I started to squeal and Jeremy started to scramble to find something to wash it down! Our cake had lemon custard in the middle and it must have gone bad because it was so sour! We finally got the taste out of our mouths and then enjoyed a piece of cake that I made for my daddy for father’s day.

I’m really looking forward to this weekend. My Aunt and cousins are coming in town to celebrate my great aunt & uncle’s 50th wedding anniversary. We’re also going to one of my Fort Worth friend’s weddings so I’ll get to see all my FW buddies! Then Sunday we are headed out to the in-laws lake house to celebrate father’s day with Jer’s Dad! I’m going to try my hardest to remember to take lots of pictures. I’ve been so bad at that lately. I’m sure you noticed, but the only pictures I have from the past two weeks are of food! Ha! Maybe I went into the wrong line of business and should have been a food critic!
