Cowtown Results!!!

Saturday I completed my first race since my 5th grade field day relay race!

I completed the Cowtown 5K in 29.45 minutes!!! I finished in the top 25th percentile of my gender age group (my analyst side coming out)!!!  I was very proud of myself! I can't wait to do my next race and I'm convinced I can do a 10K now! Maybe in April??? I think it would be amazing to do that before my birthday (my original goal was to do a 5K before I turned 27, it would be awesome if I doubled it!)

Jeremy and I also talked about possibly doing the Cowtown Half Marathon next year. It's a crazy goal, but I think it would be a really great way to keep us working hard!

My Daddy was my own personal paparazzi for the event. There were over 80 pictures from the 30 minute race, I wouldn't bore you with all of them... So here are just a few of my favs!

The hubs and me before we started!

Pumped!

And we're off!

Hi Mom and Dad!

Almost done! My amazing husband cheering me on and keeping me going! Love him! Stayed with me and encouraged me the whole way!!!

Finished!!!
Happy Monday!

TGIF!!!

Beckett on pain meds... He might need to share them with me! Ha!

It's been one heck of a week! I'm so glad that it's over. There hasn't been anything "bad" that's happened, it's just been a bad week...

I had a huge project at work that I was stressin over, that's done now, thank goodness! Beckett hasn't been able to go for walks and he's been all kinds of needy this week... I didn't work out as much as I should have and I didn't eat like I should have either and that's made me mad at myself too. I snapped at a couple of people and things just came out like word vomit! I had to apologize and I hate apologizing...  I've just been a hormonal PMS-y wreck this week.

I really shouldn't complain, but sometimes it just has to come out! More word vomit I guess!

I'm taking off early today and man do it need it! I'm headed to Fort Worth to pick up my race packet and spend some time with my parents. I'm trying to pump myself up for tomorrow and not get nervous! I'll let you know how I do soon!

Have a great weekend!

Tag you're it: Handwriting Fun!

Lindsey from The Bargain Blonde tagged me in her handwriting blog. Ladies, you have no idea how excited I was to see my name at the bottom of this list! I love writing and buying new pens. Seriously my favorite part of back to school shopping was school supplies, esp pens! There might be something wrong with me!

Even though I'm now a "grown up" and working in the corporate world I still find myself doodling "Kendall loves Jeremy" all over my notebook... Thought this was supposed to stop after 7th grade. I also love writing my name, the hubs name, and the future children's names... I think I've shared too much. Ha! I promise I'm not 13!

So without further ado my handwriting blog displaying my new pens I bought for myself at Target! Enjoy!

C25K - Week 9!!!!

I completed C25K on Tuesday evening, just in time for my race on Saturday!!! Can't wait btw!

I did 3.1 miles in 30 minutes and 45 seconds. Pretty proud of that time considering I hadn't ever run 2 miles until about 4 weeks ago!

I know I have said this a bazillion times before, but if you are interested in running you should totally try out C25K. It made running accessible and much easier than trying to train on your own. I think I've said this before, but the first time I started running before my wedding I expected to be able to run 1 mile one week and move up to 2 the next... It didn't work and I got discouraged and quit. C25K provided me with a real training program that had appropriate and attainable targets! Perfect for someone who gives up when they don't succeed the first time!

I'm thinking about starting "Bridge to 10K"... I'm a nervous Nelly about this one, but I figure I felt the same way about the other runs I did and I finished those and felt awesome afterward. We'll see if I start it...

Engagement Pics

I just couldn't resist linking up with Kaysie and showing off a few of our engagement photos. We did ours in San Antonio by a photographer who is no longer in business... (I can't remember his name... how bad is that???)

Anyways, I loved the way they turned out. Picture quality isn't so hot, but you get the idea!

Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday! The week is almost over! Thank goodness, it's been a crazy one!

My poor Beckett :(

My sweet boy has had quite the past few days. He started limping a little on Friday morning and I didn't really think anything of it. Well on Friday night we took him running and he started limping about 10 minutes into the run, but stopped after about a minute and still wanted to run so I figured he was fine.

Saturday morning when we woke up he was limping every where and wouldn't stand on his back left leg. I was so worried about him. While we were still in bed, I turned on the TV and just happened to see a show on Animal Planet about boxers, "Pets 101". I was so excited so of course had to watch it. There just so happened to be a boxer that had a back left leg injury and wouldn't walk on it and was limping around alot like Beckett. The dog ended up having a torn ligament in his knee and had to have surgery and lots of physical therapy! I immediately started crying, like big ugly crying... and called the vet to see if we could get Beckett in. I was panicked to say the least!

After he had been up for a little bit and walking around he stopping limping and didn't really have any issues for the rest of the day. We summed it up to muscles cramps since he's been running with us so much. We decided he was ok and took him for another run Sunday morning and decided that I would probably cancel his vet appointment... Probably wasn't the best idea but he hadn't been limping in 24 hours. After we got home and he took a nap he woke up and started limping again! I felt horrible for taking him running with us. Thank goodness I never got around to cancelling his appointment.
Not feeling so hot... Look at that sad face :(
I texted his foster mom Sunday night to let her know what was going on and to see if she had any advice. She basically reassured me that it wasn't my fault for running him and that he probably did it jumping around. She told me boxers were notorious for tearing their ACL's or that could be it or a hip issue. I was so upset, but at least she didn't think it was as bad as I did. Have I mentioned how thankful I am that his foster momma is still involved and answers all my crazy questions!

I took Beckett to the vet on Monday morning. I was nervous about this because I had to take him by myself. The vet's office had really slick floors and Beckett was trying to pull me to get to another dog and slipped on his back leg and cried out. Oh my, the tears almost started flowing.

I finally checked in when all the dogs were away from the front counter and we saw the vet almost immediately. I told the vet tech that Beckett was my baby and that if there was something wrong with him to expect lots of tears. She just laughed at me and said that was normal which made me feel a little better for being so emotional! The vet checked him and decided he didn't need x-rays or anything, he just thought it was a soft tissue injury that would resolve itself with rest. I was so thankful to hear that!!! He also said it could be early onset arthritis, but doubts it. So he put him on some pain medication for the week and also some joint medication just as a precaution.

You have no idea how happy I was to hear that my boy was ok!
In the exam room, he was way more interested in the dogs on the other side of the door.

After the pain meds. Pretty comfy don't cha think?
So we've been trying to keep him calm and trying to keep him from running and jumping around... Might be one of the most impossible tasks ever... Boxers owners know what I mean. Last night we went for a run and he couldn't come, that might have been the saddest thing in the world. Having to put him in his crate and listen to him cry while I put on my shoes... I could hear him crying outside too :( Praying he's better by next week, the boy loves his walks/runs!

He has a follow-up appt on Saturday, I'll keep y'all posted!

SUYL - Alma Mater

I love Kelly's link up today! It's Alma Maters!

I got my undergraduate degree from Harding University in Searcy, AR. It's a pretty conservative Christian school about 45 minutes north of Little Rock. As much as I complained about it at the time, I am so thankful that I was able to go to a school that reinforced moral behavior and based everything on Christian values. I credit Harding with the reason I am who I am today!

I met some amazing people while I was there.

And spent a lot of time in chapel with two of my best friends... Jenny & Teddy!

Went to London for a summer!

Learned from awesome faculty! And actually graduated with more than book smarts! I gained a love for the Lord I hadn't had before and that is most invaluable part of my college experience! My undergrad years definitely weren't typical and I wouldn't change that for anything!

I then decided to attend grad school and got into a great Health Care Administration program in San Antonio, TX, Trinity University!

I had soooooo much fun and did so much changing! I feel like I really grew up a lot my first year of grad school! I always joke that my first year of grad school was more like my freshman year than grad school because I went a lil crazy! Ha!

I was in a very small class of only 19. We pretty much spent every waking hour of the day together! Made for some very close friends and lots entertainment! I wouldn't have survived without them!

These girls are some of the most beautiful, amazing, smart women I have ever met! They are also a lot of FUN! We went to WAY too many theme parties!

These silly boys were a blast too! They definitely kept us girls on our toes!

And most importantly I met the man of my dreams and love of my life! This is the day we got engaged!

I got my Masters from an amazing HCAD program, completed my residency at an awesome children's hospital, gained lifelong friends, and married my best friend! I'd say it was well worth the private school tuition!!!

Link up with Kelly and tell us about your Alma Mater!

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! I have an extremely busy one ahead of me! Hopefully I'll remember to take pictures!

C25K - Week 8

I finally finished week 8. With the fall and the weather it took about a week a half to finish... Yesterday was my last run for the week and I didn't do so hot. Let's just say that will be the last time I eat a turkey sandwich and pickle before I run! My goodness! The whole time I was running I kept burping pickle and was trying not to vom... TMI? Anyways, I'm finished. I'll be starting week 9 on Saturday morning. This will be my first 3 mile run! Wish me luck!!!

In other news, I've reached 25 followers! Yay!!! I can not tell you how excited that makes me! I can't believe there are 25 people out there that what to read about my life! So thank you followers, I love you girls!!!

WILW

Because I love link ups! What I'm loving Wednesday!

1. The Shred - I really think it's working. I don't do it every day like you are supposed to, but I'm doing it every day that I don't run and I can really tell a difference in my waist size! Makes me want to keep going!

2. Katie & Cassie Pinto Grigio - The hubs bought me a bottle for V-day and it's delish! I've been splurging the last couple of nights and having a glass (or two)!

3. My running buddy, Beckett! He was exhausted on Monday when we finished 2.8 miles!!!

 4. These shoes! I really can not wait for spring and all the clothes and shoes that go with it! I'm not loving these, I'm obsessing! I think this is going to be part of my v-day shopping spree the hubs is taking me on this weekend! He knows me too well, hot pink flowers, pinot grigio, and a very large gift card to North Park!

5. The song - "Children of God" by Third Day! It lifts me up and energizes me!

6. And last, but not least, my man!

What are you loving? Link up with Jamie and let us know!
